Gironde: a 4-year-old child in a coma after falling into a Saint-Jean fire

On Saturday evening, while a fire was lit in front of a church in Camblanes-et-Meynac, a father and son stumbled and fell into it.

The traditional celebrations of Saint-Jean took a tragic turn on Saturday, in Camblanes-et-Meynac (Gironde). Around 22:30 p.m., a 40-year-old man and his four-year-old son, whom he was holding hands, tripped and fell forward in the fire in front of the Saint-Pantaléon chapel. The child was evacuated in serious condition to Pellegrin Hospital in Bordeaux.

Transported to the burn department, he had to be placed in an artificial coma on Sunday. His father suffered from lesser injuries. This is not the only incident to deplore during the dances of Saint-Jean in Gironde this weekend. The town of Bazas also required the intervention of firefighters in the evening from Friday to Saturday, after several people tried to jump over the flames. Of these, three were taken to hospital with burns to their legs.
