I speak for all of us when I say that we share Israel's sorrow.
We, the French, have experienced this pain firsthand. We have learned that nothing can justify terrorism.
France condemns these atrocities in the strongest possible terms. Let us put it clearly: Hamas is a terrorist organization...

"Let us be clear: Hamas is a terrorist organization. He seeks first and foremost the annihilation of the Jewish people, and he knows, in a criminal and cynical way, why his actions expose the population of Gaza. This is not a war between Israelis and Palestinians, this is a war waged by terrorists against a nation, a state, a society, against democratic values."
"We assured Israel and its citizens that we stand with them and support without question its legitimate response to acts of terror. Israel has the right to defend itself and eliminate terrorist groups, including Hamas, in targeted actions, but while protecting civilian populations, because that is the duty of democracies."

"We know that the only possible answer to terrorism is always a strong and just response, strong because it is just."
