There are revolutions that last for years, and there are tie-breaking events. The "Iron Swords" war is a tie-breaking event in the Haredim's attitude toward the state, recruitment to the IDF, and the issue of equality of burden and contribution to the state.
Since the establishment of the State of Israel, Israel has not been in such extreme hours. days of struggle for basic rights, for sovereignty; An entire region hijacked by monsters who mercilessly slaughtered the best of our sons and daughters, in horrifying descriptions that are not remembered even decades back. The northern sector sits on a barrel of explosives. Judea and Samaria is surrounded by whispering and burning coals, and the personal security of civilians is almost non-existent in these troubled days.
Into this vacuum enters the ultra-Orthodox sector. A historic opportunity to change the equation. Dozens of initiatives by ultra-Orthodox young men and women are enlisting in the campaign in various civilian sectors, alongside women, men and children from the ultra-Orthodox sector who contribute to the war effort on the home front – they can lower walls of hostility and suspicion that have lasted for years.
Alongside the enormous importance of Torah study and its tremendous added value on the home front, many members of the ultra-Orthodox sector feel that they cannot stand idly by when the sword is educated almost exclusively outside. According to the Torah, a crusade also rejects the joy of a bride and groom. Pikuach Nefesh about the existence of the State of Israel rejects many old considerations and fears that are irrelevant to the period in which we find ourselves.
If only relevant parties were wise enough to absorb the funnel of activity coming from Bnei Brak and Modi'in Illit, after the war and even now that it is in full swing, we will see record numbers of haredi recruitment into the IDF and civilian service.

What should military leaders actually do? Rapid operative steps, some of which are already being taken in the field.
The IDF issued a call for proposals for people aged 26 and over and for those exempt from military service in the combat support track, mainly in the truck driver sector, a military rabbinate to assist in holding funerals, and anything that can assist in the war effort.
The second step that must be taken is to entrust the contacts responsible for recruiting the ultra-Orthodox in the army in the separate companies, to absorb young people who wish to join the combat force and receive rapid training in the use of weapons.
Even if they do not join the force operating inside Gaza in an "iron sword" war, there are many sectors within the country that they can overcome.

We do not have time to solve this acute issue, whose roots go back to the state's War of Independence. There is no time for exhausting discussions in the Knesset between representatives who have lost the confidence of the people. Strike the iron while it is hot and give the area a response. One thing stood out for the better in this bloody war: the functioning of the civil bodies and the common, good people.
This could be another good initiative in the string of exciting initiatives that the State of Israel wears around its neck in its most difficult moments.
The Second War of Independence could be etched in the history of the nation as one that mobilized, independently, the ultra-Orthodox.
