According to a report earlier today in the French newspaper Le Monde, the minister instructed the heads of the country's provinces not to allow the demonstrations of Palestinian supporters because they "may turn into a mass violation of public order." Darmanin added that "any organization of such demonstrations must result in arrests." This evening, as stated, clashes broke out between the police and the demonstrators and they were dispersed by force using a radar.

Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron reiterated his support for Israel. In a tweet in Hebrew on the social network X (formerly Twitter), he insisted on Israel's right to defend itself and bring about the elimination of Hamas, while reiterating his commitment not to harm the civilian population.

"Israel has the right to defend itself and eliminate terrorist groups, including Hamas, with targeted actions, but while protecting civilian populations, because that is the duty of democracies," Macron wrote.

I speak for all of us when I say that we share Israel's sorrow.

We, the French, have experienced this pain firsthand. We have learned that nothing can justify terrorism.

France condemns these atrocities in the strongest possible terms. Let us put it clearly: Hamas is a terrorist organization...

In a tweet a few minutes later, he wrote: "The conditions for a lasting peace have long been known: a necessary guarantee of the security of Israel and a state for the Palestinians."
