Arie Rein, an armored officer in the 79th Battalion of the 14th Strike Brigade, who also fell in the same battle in the northern Gaza Strip as a result of an anti-tank missile.

He was born in Baltimore, USA, where his family moved in the 90s for the postdoctoral fellowship of father Eitan, a scientist by profession. Nitai is a veteran of Atzmona Preparatory School, headed by former Minister of Education Rabbi Rafi Peretz.

Sgt. Nitai's friend from the company said: "Nitai was a very professional fighter, a very good friend who always helped anyone in need. He loved to travel and would always start the conversation with a joke but do the job in the most serious way possible."
