The IDF confirmed to the publication today (Sunday) that Maj. (res.) Arie Rein, an armored officer in the 79th Battalion of the 14th Strike Brigade, fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip as a result of an anti-tank missile hit.
Rein, the 154th casualty since the beginning of the ground maneuvers in the Gaza Strip, joins the painful list of 15 IDF fighters killed in battle in Gaza over the weekend. These were a number of different incidents that took place over the weekend in the heavy fighting in the central and southern Gaza Strip. Five fighters from the Sa'ar Megolan design were injured when an anti-tank missile hit the engineering vehicle they were in. The two fighters in Battalion 6646 were injured when an IED exploded during an encounter with terrorists. The two fighters in Battalion 7810 were injured when an IED exploded.
