Fürstenfeldbruck – "Healthy School – Healthy Children": After a three-year pilot phase, the North Primary School is launching the prevention project "Eat yourself clever". The campaign is a cooperation between AOK Bayern and the association "Iss Dich clever".

In general, the aim is to "sustainably strengthen the health and well-being of primary school pupils in their living environment," says Erwin Hutterer, from the AOK in Fürstenfeldbruck. "We are pleased that we are also reaching children with a migration background with this project," he emphasizes.

"Eat Yourself Clever" is aimed specifically at second-grade children. In class, students learn interesting facts about nutrition in a playful way. It becomes practical when they make cheese themselves or prepare small dishes. They often sing and dance along with the "Eat-Yourself-Clever Song".

In addition, teachers and parents can take part in cooking classes or supermarket checks together with the children. Experience with the measure could be gained from a three-year pilot project. The Technical University of Munich also came to the conclusion that "Eat yourself clever" is relevant for community health promotion.
