Ten investigators will devote themselves entirely to getting their hands on the murderer (s) of Victorine Dartois.

Within a cell called "HomRoche" ("Hom" for "homicide" and "Roche" from the name of the town where the student's body was found), they will conduct their investigations as part of an information court opened Monday for "murder", announced the prosecution of Grenoble.

The 18-year-old student, living in Villefontaine (Isère), disappeared on September 26 after an afternoon of shopping with friends, while she was walking back to the family home.

His body was found less than 48 hours later in a Roche stream, on the border with Villefontaine.

The prosecution opened "this morning (Monday, editor's note) a judicial investigation against X" and, "because of the gravity of the facts and the complexity of the case, three investigating judges were appointed", told press deputy prosecutor Boris Duffau.

The qualifications retained are "kidnapping and forcible confinement" to understand what happened between the disappearance of the young girl and the discovery of her body, and "murder".

A thousand vehicles checked

In the current state of the investigation, the exact date and time of his death could not be established.

Nor if the place of the discovery would also be the place of the crime, according to Eric Vaillant, prosecutor of Grenoble.

Day and night patrols "have been doubled in the Villefontaine sector," added General Yann Tréhin, commander of the Isère gendarmerie group.

Since the start of the research, “around forty investigators have been hired every day” and to date “130 witness hearings have been carried out, 662 people contacted in the neighborhood survey, 305 calls were received at the toll-free number which have been the subject of systematic checks ”, detailed Colonel Lionel James, commander of the Grenoble research section.

Saturday, a week after Victorine's disappearance, the gendarmes returned to the area and checked “1,100 vehicles and 63 regular pedestrians”.

The young woman's body will be returned to her family - "the burial permit has been issued", according to Eric Vaillant - and the funeral will take place Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the church of Bourgoin-Jallieu, confirmed the lawyer of the family, Me Kelly Monteiro.

The ceremony will be public with a retransmission on a giant screen outside, especially for the media.

Interment in the Villefontaine cemetery will, on the other hand, be done in strict privacy "that the family asks to respect", underlined Me Monteiro.
