The comparative test between the Suzuki Vitra and Subaru XV drew quite a few reactions, many of them in the style: "Where does this price come from, why do I have to pay 150,000 shekels for a small crossover?".
We have listened to the cries of the people and since we do not have the ability to lower the prices of the new jeeps, we suggest you look for a solution in the used market.
Today there is a huge selection of used crossovers at prices between 50,000 and 100,000 shekels, and more.
We have chosen to make a representative width cut around 65,000 shekels, but there is no problem to go up or down in the yearbooks according to your budget, and the intended use - if the crossover is the second car in the family used for occasional managers and several trips a year, you can settle for an older car.
If this is the primary family vehicle, it might be worth investing some more money.

Genesis, accessible to our elite crossovers
Dozens of crossover models are sold in Israel, and we have chosen to focus on three that give good value for your money, and have considerable field capabilities.
They will not take you on Land Cruiser and Pajero routes, but they will open up thousands of miles of convenient, charming and accessible trails for you.
Subaru Forester, Suzuki Grand Vitra and Dacia Duster give you a balanced package of road and 'soft' terrain.
They can be used well by the traveling family, on weekends and in daily administrations.
Suzuki Jimny, a real SUV in the body of a Gippon
At the last minute we added to the group the Suzuki Jimny from our hearts, which offers capabilities and terrain durability at a level several times higher than that of the three crossovers.
The terrain capabilities of the Jimny are exceptional, but it is less comfortable, useful and safe than the three tenors, it is small and bouncy, and has only two doors.
In other words, it is a type of Polaris RZR with air conditioning, on the other hand and for young space seekers, the Jimny could be a great choice.

There are huge price differences between different exemplifiers from the same yearbook, a result of differences in the annual mileage, the condition of the vehicle, the number of hands and ... the daring of the seller.

We found 24 ads for the Forester, 21 ads for the Grand Vitra (including three in a short-sleeved 3-door body), four 4X4 Dusters (three petrol and only one diesel), and only two Jimans.
This figure illustrates the options space available to you, the degree of patience you will need in finding each of the models, and the willingness / refusal of the sellers to lower the price.
Subaru Forester: Comfortable and spacious on the road, not afraid of surface - even without improvements

One of the criteria in the field of 'crossovers for the field' is the Forrester, which has been sold here since 1998. The price range for the Forrester may start at NIS 10,000 for a self-employed senior, and up to NIS 200,000 for a new car made of nylon.
Market prices were generally higher than the budget we specified, but at NIS 65,000 you can find a beautiful and clean Forester, 4-5 years old.
Chances are you will have to compromise on the amount of miles, or sometimes institutional cost in the past (although there are few), chances are it is reliable and relatively fresh, and just as importantly - in some cases, still under the importer's responsibility.
The Forrester is a spacious and comfortable family car, with high reliability and safety.
It comes with a rather thirsty 2.0-liter engine, and with a continuous gearbox.
The suspension system is one of the best in the segment and the power transfer to the ground is very good, relative to the Jeep.
The ventral spacing of 22 inches is the best in the segment.
You can advance to 2016-2017 if you purchase a Subaru XV on the same budget;
The XV has the same engine, gearbox and ventral spacing, but is smaller and has a less good approach angle than that of the Forrester.

A jeep trip with overnight parking can be an enriching and enriching family experience
Our three Jeeps have a limited suspension travel, and they use electronic traction control to achieve grip even in relatively difficult terrain conditions.

A quick glance under the belly button will reveal the history to you - beatings, abrasions, injuries to the belly and refuge are not a good sign.
A crossover can be raised by the right 5 inches, but it is better to settle for a more moderate raise, to avoid high loads on the axles.

The Grand Vitra is very similar to the Forrester, although smaller than it is.
The Suzuki's ventral spacing is only 18.5 inches, which is really little.
But the Grand Vitra has a power transmission that allows you to slowly climb up a steep slope or get out of a sand trap, without frying the gearbox.
Although the Vitra's power transmission is not as short as in dedicated SUVs, it can make a difference when we encounter a technical obstacle.

The Suzuki 2.4 engine is really not economical, but it should not bother those who use the car mainly for trips and short trips

It has a 21 cm ventral spacing and excellent body angles, relatively long-stroke suspensions and a hyper-economical diesel engine. In the desert trails, the interior space and the level of pampering and safety, are less good than in the Japanese.
Effective traction control allows temporary grip loss to be overcome
The big drawback of the Duster is that the 4X4 models do not have an automatic transmission.
Six front gears give it a relatively short 'first' but still, not everyone will know how to operate the clutch in severe offense conditions.
One should know how to take advantage of the torque of the diesel engine and choose a continuous line of motion, to avoid engine bleeding or clutch frying (or both).
Beyond that, many Israelis do not like the third pedal, even on road trips.
The Duster has formed around him many fans, who travel in difficult-to-offense areas.

The price of a new Duster is only NIS 120,000, so in our home budget you can find a relatively new car from 2016.
This is a big advantage, although I'm not sure the Duster will age with the same grace as the Japanese.
It also turns out that the supply of diesel vehicles is limited and it is difficult to find a low-passenger diesel duster, hence sellers may insist on a relatively high price.
It should be noted that the petrol version is also good and economical, although not like the diesel.

The Jimny is too short to be a family car

We started the article with three family crossovers, but I can not ignore the cutest and toughest of them all, the Suzuki Jimny.
In our budget you can find Jimny 2015 or 2016, it can be manual or automatic.
Despite its miniature dimensions, the Jimny is a true SUV with a ladder chassis, live axles and of course, power transmission.
It has excellent body angles, and its sturdy assemblies are adapted for off-road work - which cannot be said of the Jeeps that are actually, slightly elevated road cars.
Beware of excessive elevations that increase the risk of rollover, and impair the reliability of the gymnast
Compared to crossovers the Jimny is crowded, bouncy, its engine is weak, and the level of safety is less good.
It is difficult to travel with a family in Jimny, but a couple of students will be able to find their happiness there.
Fold the back seat, load two mattresses on the roof, and you can go on an outdoor adventure.
Beware of overly improved jims - 4-3 inch heights, combat off-road tires ... it looks good and helps overcome obstacles, but beware of side slopes!

Summary
As a veteran and committed Jeep, I have a lot of complaints against modern Jeeps and crossovers - they are annoyingly expensive, have a clear preference for design over usability, they leverage unsupported images, and more.
But the truth is that a space-oriented crossover can provide a great solution for family outings in the great outdoors, combined with ease of daily use, and perfectly reasonable operating expenses.
The three Jeeps give an excellent blend of road and terrain capabilities, a reasonable level of safety, and high reliability at an affordable price.
