Head of a section of general and vocational education adapted (Segpa) of Gap, a college professor was indicted for corruption of a minor and possession of child pornography, AFP learned on Thursday from the public prosecutor's office. Hautes-Alpes prefecture.
Unknown to the courts, the 58-year-old man was arrested this Tuesday morning at his home before being taken into custody, said Florent Crouhy, prosecutor of the Republic of Gap.
The teacher "who carries out education functions in a college in Gap" was identified "thanks to his cell phone", he said.
The individual was presented to an investigating judge on Wednesday.
The latter indicted him for "corruption of a minor under the age of 15", "corruption of a minor via an electronic communication network", "sexual proposals made to a minor of 15 years by means of electronic communication and recording" and “possession and consultation of child pornography images”.
A complaint in December
Entrusted to the restriction of the protection of the family of the Gap police station, the investigation began on December 29 when a 15-year-old girl living in the Jura had lodged a complaint with the gendarmerie. A source close to the investigation reported to AFP that "the girl explains having been contacted on the Internet, via social networks, by a man claiming to be 20 years old and using a false identity in order to obtain sex, besides an exchange of naked photos and phone calls ”. Investigators also discovered child pornography images on the teacher's computer.
Academic director of the national education services (Dasen) of Hautes-Alpes, Catherine Albaric-Delpech indicated that "[they] will [have] set up a listening cell in the establishment because the teacher who is the director of the Segpa had worked for years within this educational community ”.
Before adding: "It should be the subject of a measure of suspension as a precaution".
In accordance with the requisitions of the prosecution, the 58-year-old man was remanded in custody by the judge of freedoms and detention (JLD).
He was imprisoned at the Marseille-Baumettes penitentiary center.
