The images are impressive. A crane used on a construction site located in the heart of Manhattan in New York caught fire on Wednesday morning. The machine then partially collapsed, damaging the façade of a building across the street.
According to the New York Times the crane collapsed around 7:30 a.m. (13:30 p.m. Paris time) between 10th Avenue and 41st Street near Hudson Yards, a neighborhood of Manhattan in full reconstruction. Firefighters arrived at the scene, originally alerted to the fire before construction equipment collapsed. The neighborhood is cordoned off.
A civilian and a firefighter were injured in the crash, according to CNN. Their lives are not in danger according to the American news channel.

New York City officials said emergency personnel, smoke and traffic delays were expected in the area. The city's mayor, Eric Adams, is on hand to "assess the situation," according to officials.
In February 2016, a crane also collapsed in the south of the famous New York peninsula, killing one person and injuring two others.
