Their determination to meet the requirements of life and improve the income of their families brought them together, and that was the starting point for their small business to manufacture dairy products and some types of household supplies within a small workshop in the Mezzeh 86 area of Damascus.

Although she holds a diploma in business administration, Amal Ghanem preferred to establish her small project with the participation of a number of her friends, and the beginning was by making cheese, which she learned from her mother since she was young, as she said.

Ghanem, a mother of two girls, explained that the project started with limited capabilities in terms of tools and raw materials, but the demand for its products, such as cheese, labneh and Makdous, prompted it to expand and buy a larger number of work tools and supplies, stressing that the project contributed to achieving additional income for her family and for its participants.

Participant Fadia Muhammad indicated that she enriched the project by applying modern methods to manufacture a number of products that she learned from the Internet, ranging from white cheese and curd, in addition to butter and other types of home food industries, which were well received by customers.

The project provides job opportunities for 10 women, according to Reem Abu Fakhr, one of the participants, indicating that the work is divided into two shifts, from seven in the morning to four in the afternoon and from four in the afternoon to seven in the evening, where about 600 kilograms of milk is drawn daily from the Sasa’ and Ghouta areas in Damascus countryside, and the products are manufactured as orderd.

He distributes the workshop's products to wholesale and retail stores, the young man, Yaqoub Alloush, in the Mezzeh area only, after he used to deliver it to several places, explaining to SANA that the reason for the distribution to be limited to Mezzeh is due to the high transportation costs.

A number of citizens who used to buy the products of the project pointed out the importance of the experience, whether for the participants or for the customer, as the young Hassan Hassan explained that he comes to buy cheese and butter because of their distinct taste and the cleanliness that he feels in the workshop.

Umm Ahmed, 65, expressed her satisfaction with the presence of the project near her house, as it saves her from walking long distances because her health condition does not allow her to move easily and manufacture the supplies her home needs, in addition to the difference in the prices of the workshop's products compared to other stores.
