Benedikt Doll has been active in biathlon from childhood.
That made him, among other things, German champion, world champion and Olympian.
Benedikt Doll
was born into a family of athletes and decided to take part in
biathlon
when he was seven
.
In 2017 he won the
world championship title
in Hochfilzen
and at the same time won his first gold medal in the individual race in the World Cup.
The athlete crowned this success with two Olympic
bronze medals
in Pyeongchang in 2018.
Benedikt Doll was
born on March 24, 1990 and grew up in Titisee-Neustadt.
His
father
was a successful mountain and long-distance runner, his
mother
a marathon runner.
So the young Doll was drawn to numerous
children's cross-country
races at an early age
.
At the age of seven, he decided to
switch
to
biathlon
.
After completing secondary school, the young athlete attended the ski boarding school in
Furtwangen
and completed his
Abitur
at the same time
.
He became a
sports soldier
and was able to concentrate fully on his sports career.
In 2012 he ran his first full
European championship
for men and scored World Cup points for the first time at the end of the season.
Thanks to his equally good performance in the
2012/2013 World Cup
, Doll was allowed to
start
as the final runner in the
relay
and took second place.
The
final
in Khanty-Mansiysk, however, was less successful.
With a placement in 41st place in the
sprint
, he just missed the points.
In the
pursuit
, he even fell back to 51st place due to six missed shots.
Benedikt Doll: his achievements in the World Cup and his World Cup victory
So far, the biathlete has collected
the following
medals
at the
World Cup
:
Sprint: twice gold, four times bronze
Persecution
: once silver
Mass start: two silver, one bronze
Season
: once gold, twelve times silver, nine times bronze
But as one of the greatest successes of Benedikt Doll be true
world title
in 2017. In Hochfilzen, he completed the
sprint
for the first time without a shot error and went with just 0.7 seconds lead as the
first
to the finish.
With that he was
sure of
both the title of
world champion
and his first victory in a single race in the
biathlon
world cup.
In the
pursuit,
on the other hand, due to three missed shots, it was only enough for 11th place, in the
individual
for 19th place.
He
made two
mistakes in the
mass start
and finished ninth.
With a fourth place in the relay, he just missed the medal ranks.
All of this meant that Doll had to be satisfied with 11th place in the overall standings, which was a
worsening
compared
to previous years.
Benedikt Doll's medal hunt at the Olympics
The next two great successes for
Benedikt Doll
followed in the
2017/2018 season
.
It all started with the
German Championships in
2017, where he won
the
bronze medal
in the
pursuit
and even the
gold medal
in the sprint
.
As a freshly minted
German champion
,
Keuler
, as Doll is often
called
in the media because of his
fighting spirit
, went to the 2018
Olympics
in Pyeongchang.
It started with the
sprint
, in which he finished sixth.
In the subsequent
pursuit
, the athlete even made it to the medal ranks and came
third
.
The next Olympic
bronze medal
was not long in coming.
Although the German
relay team
had to drive three penalties, two of which were caused by Doll, it was still enough for third place.

Doll, who
competes in the
biathlon
for the SZ Breitnau, also competed in the mass start and made it to fifth place.
So he drove back home with two Olympic
bronze medals
in his luggage.
