Norway owes its fourth overall World Cup victory to him.

  • Aleksander Aamodt Kilde

is active in combination and giant slalom, but most successful in

    Super-G

    and

    downhill

    .

  • In 2012, the

    ski racer

    took part

    in a

    World Cup

    for the

    first time

    .

  • In the 2019/2020 season, he won the

    overall World Cup

, which so far has only been achieved three Norwegians before him.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde

comes from Bærum, Norway, and was born there on September 21, 1992.

The

ski racer

drives, among other things,

giant slalom

and is active in the

combination

.

He can regularly

show

himself at his best in the

downhill

and Super-G.

Kilde contested

his first

FIS race

in 2007 and has been a regular since then.

Two years later he was allowed to take part in the European Olympic Festival in Szczyrk, but it was not a great success.

He was eliminated in the

slalom

and also in the

giant slalom

.

However, he made up for that the following year and won his first

FIS race

in 2010

.

That led to his first appearance in the

European Cup

in November of that year.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde celebrated another highlight of his young career at the

Junior World Championships

in Roccaraso 2012. In the Super-G, he narrowly missed the medal ranks and finished

fourth

.

Nonetheless, he finished the season with two Norwegian

junior championship

titles, namely slalom and giant slalom.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde at the World Cup, the Olympics and other major events

In October 2012, the Norwegian

ski racer took

part in the World Cup for the first time

.

However, he did not manage to qualify for the second round.

In January 2013 in the

European Cup

,

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde was

much more successful and won the

Super-G

in Val-d'Isère.

Around two weeks later, he also secured victory in the two Super-Gs in La Thuile.

So it is hardly surprising that he took first place in the Super-G and the overall ranking of the 2012/2013 European Cup.

Not to be forgotten is his

gold medal

in giant slalom at the

Junior World Championships in

2013. The following year he went to the

Olympics

in Sochi

for the first time

, where he finished 13th in the Super-G.

In January 2015, Kilde had to take a one-month break, but nonetheless qualified for the

World Championship

in Beaver Creek.

There he reached eighth place in the combination.

The year ended with a surprise: a third place in the Super-G of Val Gardena.

The ski racer on the way to World Cup victory

On his title as

World Cup winner

had to

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde

no longer wait long.

On January 30, 2016, he secured first place in the Kandahar run in

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

.

In the 2019/2020 World Cup season, the

ski racer was treated

as an outsider, but from December 2019 he secured a place in the top ten in all races in which he crossed the finish line.

Although the athlete only managed one victory, he led the

overall standings

.

Alexis Pinturault was

already the

favorite

at the beginning of the season

and soon afterwards won the overall standings back.

That changed again in March.

Due to the

end of the season

due to the pandemic, Pinturault had

no chance of fighting his way back to the top.

So Kilde was the

overall winner

.

That made him the

fourth Norwegian overall World Cup winner

.
