Since 1968, the Italian national team has not won the European football championship. In fact, this is her only title win, alongside four world championships. In a few months, under Roberto Mancini, the Italians will try to regain their title after 52 years, and the coach promises he knows the right way to do it.
At a conference in Genoa, Mancini said: "I love offensive football. We have won four world cups thanks to the old Italian way, the defense, but it's over." He added: "The days when we played defensively and were based on burst attacks have gone by."
Ahead of the Euro, he sounded optimistic: "I'm glad we brought the Italian fans back to the team, which is a symbol of unity. The fans love her again, and I hope that in the summer we will make them happy. When we play beautiful football, they are satisfied."
"We did everything to promote young players in Syria, and I was delighted," the coach added, "it is wrong to say about Italian football that is short of talent. You just have to give them the opportunity to come into play."
