London (dpa) - For the former international Robert Huth, the importance of football has decreased rapidly. He is only now realizing how unimportant football is, the 35-year-old told the "Tagesspiegel".
"I hardly watch football anymore," said Huth, who declared his career ended in January 2019, but had already been without a club six months earlier.
Huth, who studied "Sporting Directorship" in England, was at some point during his active time "pissed off being reduced to his job as a footballer," said Huth, who at the end of his career "just got fed up" from Had football. Huth moved from Union Berlin to Chelsea at the age of 16 in 2002 and won the Premier League championship in 2016 with outsider Leicester City.
Despite a functioning career, Huth would no longer take this step today. "Not without training, not without help," said the former defender, nicknamed "The Berlin Wall" in England. Huth Jürgen Klinsmann owes that he matured to a 19-time international. In his first game as national coach, today's coach from Hertha BSC ordered Huth, who was almost unknown at the time in Germany. Huth could also imagine coming to Union or Hertha in Berlin as part of a course of study "for a kind of internship".
Huth does not see himself as a TV expert - like many of his former colleagues. "Better not. I've done it twice. It really isn't that much fun. There are better things in life."
