Rosenheim started out motivated in Peiting - and was then surprised by the increasingly strong ECP. Match winner was Lukas Gohlke, who scored three times this weekend.
Peiting - ice hockey is a crazy sport. Everything can happen at any time. Since games can be rotated within seconds. And then an EC peiting that lost 1: 7 on Friday can suddenly win against the same opponent just two days later. Sebastian Buchwieser's team defeated the “Starbulls” Rosenheim 4: 1 on their own ice on Sunday.
Peiting does not manage to take the game in hand in the first third. The “Starbulls” are slightly superior and closer to the lead. But ECP goalie Florian Hechenrieder is in a good mood. He mustn't afford to make a mistake, because the “Starbulls” are always waiting for ricochets - and he doesn't allow himself. When Alexander Höller starts the margin, Hechenrieder is first on the puck. And it also successfully repels any attempt to shoot. Rosenheim has a few of these - especially when Simon Maier takes two minutes to leg up and then delay the game. But Hechenrieder and his men in front bite, make life difficult for the "Starbulls". And so save the 0-0 break.
Peiting stronger in the second third
The Peitinger come out of it much more cheerfully, now have more share in the game. Rosenheim affords two two-minute penalties in a row. The first survive the "Starbulls" without damage. With the second, however, Lukas Gohlke is on hand - he already met in Rosenheim on Friday. For 1: 4. The goal remained irrelevant to the course of the game. You can't say that about the hit on Sunday. Because Gohlke transforms the cross pass from Ty Morris to the opening goal (25th). And that gets Rosenheim in trouble. The "Starbulls" are no longer so confident in the second third, they afford more bad passes. Nevertheless, they have opportunities. Hechenrieder intercepts a shot by Joshua Mitchell, an attempt by Fabian Zick flies over the crossbar. On the other hand, Thomas Heger fails because of the also well laid-out “Starbulls” goalie, Andreas Mechel. Peitings Thomas Schmid has to play in the cooler for two minutes in the third. But the ECP is again outnumbered, bringing the puck out of the danger zone again and again and thus making room for air. Shortly before the break, Dominik Daxlberger also has to get off the ice - the fourth ends in four against four.
Follow-up hit without consequences
And the new one starts with a power play for peiting. However, the “Starbulls” successfully protect their crates when outnumbered. Then ECP striker Thomas Heger starts a giant campaign. He leaves two Rosenheimers standing - but Mechel stops him. On the other hand, Hechenrieder saves from Tobias Draxinger. Now it burns several times in front of the Peitinger Tor. But the ECP goalie has everything under control. And on the other hand, it is Heger again who makes a stir. Again he fails, but Florian Stauder slams the target into a 2-0 win in the housing (47th) - and hits the "Starbulls", which were just on the up, in the heart. Gohlke increased to 3-0 57 seconds later. The goal from Höller just one and a half minutes later does not make the Peitinger falter. Heger and Ty Morris fail because of Mechel. But when the Rosenheim goalie makes room for a sixth outfield player, Maier pushes the target 4: 1 into the empty goal.
The revenge was successful. Peiting has shown character. And once again benefits from the fact that there are so many players on this team who can score important goals.
