A prestigious gold medal for Peter Plachick in the Grand Slam Paris final. The Israeli judoka who won (gold) in the dramatic final in the dramatic final of Georgian Lipertliani, the silver medalist from the Rio Olympics, completed a dream competition and on the way recorded his career record.

It should be noted that the last to win gold in the most prestigious Grand Slam competition was Eric Zahavi (Moscow 2011).

Three hours earlier, Palczyk secured the medal after a semifinal win over Dutchman Michael Correll. The Israeli judoka, who won gold two weeks ago at the Grand Prix Tel Aviv, sweetened a bitter day to the Israeli delegation after Uri Sasson (over 100 kg) was knocked out early in the competition and Sagi Muki (up to 81 kg) returned from injury, was already ousted quarterfinal.

Palchik (up to 100kg) started the second round competition, to which he automatically qualified. In the Israeli round, he met Katsback Zancyshev and, after equalizing the legal time, Zancasiv had a third penalty after 1:19 and Palchik recorded an important victory.

Next, the Israeli met Mikita Swarid of Belarus and Palchik won the rest in 2:10 minutes. As soon as the final was finished, Plachik faced Shadi Ellensh and just before the fight was over he managed to subdue the Canadian and went on to the semi-finals where he met Dutchman Michael Correll, who was disqualified after accumulating a third penalty in the Golden Score.
