Although Hans Bruckmeier ends in Oberding, he sees the future as rosy - for himself and the TuS

BY DIETER PRIGLMEIR

Oberding– Tobias Huber is in a quandary. The football department head of TuS Oberding has just been informed that he has to look for a new coach for 2020/21. After five years, Hans Bruckmeier will end his engagement with the district classics. “We already had a lot of good coaches. But we've never had one like the Brucki, ”says Huber, a die-hard TuSler with 450 games under his belt. "Brucki has totally integrated, was also at every local festival."

Huber recalls how Bruckmeier led Oberdinger into the district class, hours of technical discussions and "legendary player meetings in Brucki's snack cellar".

The 40-year-old also says: "I'm not sad, I'm more excited because we're looking forward to something new." The soccer boss himself doesn't know yet what that is. A successor for Bruckmeier has not yet been determined. "We're still looking." Coach or player coach? "I'm totally open to that. But a player coach must be a special caliber. ”Bruckmeier also sees it as he reveals in our interview.

Mr. Bruckmeier, actually you've been over it for a year and a half.

Hans Bruckmaier: That's right. After three years, lower amateur football should actually end. That is a very good rule. The environment also expects something new. Football is always a shot of entertainment. I once asked Herbert Sitter ...

The eternal trainer of Falke Markt Schwaben?

He was there for nine years. In the end, he played with Falcon in the Bayern League. But he told me that because of the large flow of players, he always had a new team. It's different at TuS. We have also lost very important people. For example Christoph Gruner, Rene Windisch and Tim Paschek, who is now top scorer in the Landesliga. But the team itself has continued to develop.

Why did you break the good three-year rule and continue?

Of course I asked the team back then, but everyone wanted it to stay the way it is. It's great fun too. The mood is still great. With Tobi Stürzer I have the best captain I can only imagine. It's incredible what sensors he has. He gets everything. And it's still going well. Participation in training has never been better. On average there are 26 people. We have the best second ever. And we have never lost a game in the district class because the setting would not have been right. If I only think of the great fight at 2-2 against Walpertskirchen. , ,

But why do you stop after the season?

Because I am convinced that the team would benefit from a new impulse. At some point, soccer players need someone who tells something different than me and who has other forms of training. And it is also the case that the players who did not come to my train so often can prove themselves anew with a new coach.

Nothing goes forward, nothing burns in the back - how do you as the outgoing coach keep the tension high in the second half of the season?

The tension will be 100 percent there. We will go on the gas without end. And it's not true that everything has already gone for us this year. We have a very balanced class. You can't afford to make mistakes. I'm looking forward to a wonderful ending.

Which place in the table?

A secure midfield would be fine. Above all, we want to end the season with great football.

What is missing from the TuS for a top team?

We are well occupied in many positions, but we do not have a tens who distributes the balls. And we lack a central striker. If we had not only the many preparers, but an executor, we could reach the next class.

That would be exactly the positions that a player coach could fill.

For me, a coach belongs on the outside line. For me, a player coach is only a solution if it is outstanding and has no attack surface - like someone like Franco Soave, who still runs more than any of his teammates today.

What does a trainer in Oberding have to bring?

It has to be a man who can integrate. Community and atmosphere are incredibly important at TuS. A trainer has to get along with the locals as well as the new ones, who are always there thanks to the proximity to the airport. And who also find a home here.

What do you still expect the team to do in the medium term?

Let's assume that the club does not change its philosophy and will continue to pay no money. Nevertheless, I believe that for this grown team and two reinforcements, the district league is not a utopia. That would also serve the environment, because the TuS has wonderfully capable officials.

For example, head of department Tobi Huber, with whom you often philosophize about football for hours.

(laughs) Yeah, Tobi. When we meet in the cafeteria in the Erdinger Hagebau market, it can take a little longer. The cafeteria is practically our office. Working with him is just fun.

You're 69, that's not an age to quit, is it?

Definitely. The fire is still burning. I've been asked several times by other clubs this season. But the TuS always had priority. And of course I don't accept everything. I need something where you can make a difference. I don't care whether it's an A-Class or a regional league. It has to be a club that is well run and gives young, willing people a chance.
