THE SCAN SPORT - The Italian Inter club have decided to attack Inter Miami, created by David Beckham, to change its name.

While MLS, the North American soccer championship, is due to start at the end of February, David Beckham's new club, Inter Miami or Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami, could be forced to change its name. Indeed, Inter Milan has decided to sue the American league, arguing that the term "Inter" is related to Milan.

According to the Miami New Times , the Italian club had filed a patent and trademark application in 2014 for Inter to be its exclusive brand in the United States. But for MLS the term "Inter" does not only apply to the Milan team and can therefore be used by other clubs.

A first decision was made Monday by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USTPO): the legal argument of the American League was rejected. MLS should appeal, but according to the Guardian , counsel for Inter Miami said there is a good chance the club will have to change its name.
