- Inter (@Inter_en) September 5, 2018According to the Miami New Times , the Italian club had filed a patent and trademark application in 2014 for Inter to be its exclusive brand in the United States. But for MLS the term "Inter" does not only apply to the Milan team and can therefore be used by other clubs.
A first decision was made Monday by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USTPO): the legal argument of the American League was rejected. MLS should appeal, but according to the Guardian , counsel for Inter Miami said there is a good chance the club will have to change its name.
