Berlin (dpa) - No decision has yet been made on the future of Jürgen Klinsmann as a member of the supervisory board of the Bundesliga club Hertha BSC.
The open question of the return of the former national coach after his resignation as coach of the Berlin team to the committee should be clarified when the waves have calmed down. The German press agency found out about this from investor Lars Windhorst.
Klinsmann was named by the sponsor Windhorst for a position on the supervisory board of GmbH & Co. KGaA at the beginning of November after Tennor Holding increased its stake to 49.9 percent for a total of 224 million euros. Klinsmann left this post when he took over as head coach just three weeks later. He resigned from this on Tuesday.
Klinsmann announced in the resignation statement via Facebook that he would "withdraw from his original long-term task as a member of the supervisory board". The supervisory board of the KGaA has comparatively little authority and is, for example, not responsible for approving transfers or for deciding on the management of manager Michael Preetz.
After the current events, there were already discussions between club president Werner Gegenbauer and Windhorst. After the resignation of Klinsmann, work was started by telephone and questions regarding the future were discussed. Entrepreneur Windhorst started his engagement with the capital club at the end of June last year.
The criticism of Klinsmann after the surprising resignation does not stop. Former players of the capital club accuse the former national coach of weaknesses and unbelievability.
