The SE Freising is last in the Landesliga relegation round. But the new coach Gregor Tomasik still sees opportunities, as he emphasizes in the FT interview.

Freising - The ice choppers of the Black Bears Freising have had a game-free weekend and are still the big loser in the relegation relegation round. The reason for this is the success of the direct competitors from Pegnitz, Trostberg and Bayreuth in the fight for relegation. The distance to the saving bank has now increased to six points. The new Freisinger trainer, Gregor Tomasik, is aware of the severity of his mission, but still sees opportunities, as he emphasizes in the FT interview.

Mr. Tomasik, what did you think when you read the results of the competition last weekend?

I thought, phew, this is going to be really hard! But - there are still six games and you can get 18 points from them. I even think if you won four of the six games, you might still be through.

"All six matches are endgames - there is no longer anything special."

What would be the four mandatory victories on your bill?

For me, arithmetic games don't play a role at the moment. We have to look from game to game. All six matches are endgames - there is no longer anything special. If you want to be completely safe, you have to win all games or at least five of them. Everything is possible in this league, as you could see from our win against Vilshofen almost two weeks ago. They were unbeaten - and then slap, 1: 7 at the last in Freising. Bayreuth is now first in the table, and maybe we'll beat them. We have to do something, our players have it in their own hands now.

If everything goes well, who else could the Black Bears leave in the table?

If you look at the table, it can only be Pegnitz. Maybe also Waldkirchen, where they already have eleven points, but a game more than we do. Therefore, the three games will be groundbreaking in the next ten days. You have to win against Pegnitz and Waldkirchen on February 21 and 22 anyway, and we should annoy the leaders from Bayreuth this Friday. If you score six or more points in these three games, you are in the race. If you lose all three or only get three points, it will be very, very difficult.

"I tried to do a simple game system with my team."

Her team had a week off and was only in training. After getting to know each other, what encourages you that the team could grab it?

A new trainer always brings a breath of fresh air. It's like any other sport in ice hockey. A team like this plays very differently, because every player has to prove himself anew and step on the gas. When I won the first game against Vilshofen, I changed the ranks a bit and tried to implement a very simple game system with my team. It worked out well. Every week, based on the training impressions, I decide how to proceed, with which tactic we will play. If you come as a new trainer shortly before the end of the season and have to play firefighter - then you can no longer demand huge tactical changes, otherwise the team will get completely out of concept. You need to make it as easy as possible for players to get back into their game flow. They know how and what it is about. And I have the feeling that the team knows about the controversial situation and that they have to hang in there.

"I'm not worried about what's next season."

Did you have to be persuaded to work as a gang fireman at the Black Bears gang? And could it - no matter how it ends - a continuation with the trainer
Give Tomasik next season?

Do not persuade directly, but I had to clarify some details with my employer, for example, before I gave the promise by the end of the season. I already knew most of the team itself. For example, from my time in Pfaffenhofen or privately, because some players come from Ingolstadt and the surrounding area. I'm not worried about what's next season. Now only the next few weeks count, these six games. I do not yet know what will happen afterwards and what I will do in the club in the future.

Next heavy chunk for the Freising puck hunters

After their game-free weekend, the Freising ice hockey national league is even more with their backs to the wall than before: the direct competitors Pegnitz and Bayreuth each scored twice, the gap to the saving sixth place in the relegation round table is now six points.

But the Black Bears can still get 18 points from the remaining six games - and at least two weeks ago the leader of the table from Vilshofen was overthrown on the Isar. "Why shouldn't it work against Bayreuth again?" Asked the new coach Gregor Tomasik before his second appearance at the gang of the Black Bears. The opponent, the Tigers from Bayreuth, is currently in a good mood and has celebrated two victories in a row, but at least Tomasik wants to annoy the guests from Upper Franconia.

For example, in the first meeting of the two teams in the relegation round at the end of January: The bears in Bayreuth were only just 3: 4 and were at least close to a point win. In the first two games in the main round, things looked different: In front of their home crowd, the Freising team could do nothing against the deserved but tolerable 1-3 defeat. In the away game at the Upper Franconia, however, there was a whopping 1: 8 swatter for the Upper Bavaria.

The task for the Black Bears on Friday evening could hardly be more difficult. But if the relegation is to work, countable things have to come from such games. The game starts at 8:15 p.m. in the Weihenstephan Arena.
