That was not for the faint of heart: In the home game against TSV Ottobeuren, the handball players of TSV Peißenberg were already far ahead - and then had to shake properly.
Peißenberg - Four defeats in a row, including the derby defeat in Oberhausen, the Peißenberg handball women had to put up with last. In the fifth game of the second half of the season, the protégés of trainers Christian Führer and Martin Trautmann again had a sense of achievement. Against their direct competitor in the relegation battle, TSV Ottobeuren, the Peißenberg women celebrated a 23:21 (14: 8) home win.
"The victory was important and deserved," said Führer, relieved afterwards, since his team thus kept in touch with the midfields. "The first half was strong and you shouldn't talk much about the second half," said Führer about the eventful appearance.
TSV Peißenberg: Goal swirl in the early stages
The Peißenberg women noticed in the first minutes that they wanted to make amends for the defeat in Oberhausen. The Allgäu women, who had recently performed well after a false start to the season and won three out of five games, were overrun in the early stages. Only after the 10: 2 (17th) did the attacking whirlwind of the hosts around the unerring Steffi Führmann subside somewhat. This was also due to the fact that her best pitcher and top scorer in the league, Julia Brauer, who had started the game, was barely able to walk.
Nevertheless, the Peißenberg women kept a comfortable five-goal lead until the middle of the second half. In the final phase, however, the hosts slowly ran out of breath. Ottobeuren struggled up to 21:22 (59th). Shortly afterwards, however, the guests received a penalty, and Brauer showed her nerve strength. 40 seconds before the siren, she took responsibility for a seven meter and scored the all-important victory.
