The Ben Yedder-Slimani pair back against Montpellier?

2020-02-13T14:31:29.168Z

The duo Ben Yedder-Slimani should be back at the forefront of the Monegasque attack on Montpellier this Friday. An undeniable offensive asset for Robert Moreno, eager to get back on the podium.

Injured in the quadriceps since the beginning of January, Islam Slimani made a significant comeback in the Monegasque group last weekend. Entered the game at the end of the match in Amiens, the Algerian striker allowed Monaco to overthrow the Picard club thanks to an achievement of the head in additional time (2-1) and especially to avoid getting stuck in the middle of championship table.

However eager to leave the principality this winter, according to several media, after the departure of Leonardo Jardim, the former Leicester striker has finally stayed on the rock where he is loaned until the end of the season by the English club. His efficiency in front of the goal should be of great help for his new coach.

Slimani "ready to play 90 minutes"

While Moreno had preferred to align Jovetic in his eleven so far, especially due to the injury of the Algerian striker, the former coach of La Roja can not really miss this offensive asset.

Without Gelson Martins, suspended by the LFP after his red card in Nîmes (1-3), and with Pietro Pellegri and Willem Geubbels still in the infirmary, Robert Moreno hinted that Islam Slimani should know his first tenure on Friday against Montpellier. He would therefore find the French international, Wissam Ben Yedder, with whom he forms the most prolific duo in Ligue 1, by being both involved in 37 of ASM's 40 goals this season.

"Slimani? Scoring is always very important. He trains with us at a good level. It was not a good situation for the team that Slimani was not in the group. I want to have all the players available. (…) The most important thing now is that he is with the group and we are very happy to have him with us. He's ready to play 90 minutes, "said Moreno at a press conference.

In the event of a victory for Louis II on Friday, the Monegasques could temporarily return to two points from fourth place and thus put pressure on Lille and Rennes, still on the podium with only one more point on their northern pursuer.
