A foreign player slot has been vacated on Chelsea's roster after its Brazilian offensive player Willian passed the citizenship test and became a full-fledged British citizen.
Willian sees his future in England, along with his family, and needed three attempts to pass the test he set "difficult, as there were many questions about Britain's history." Speaking on the mission, he said: "Brazil is my and my family's culture, but London is our second home."
In his remarks, Willian hints at his desire to stay in Chelsea and extend his contract, but he now appears to be wanted by Premier League teams as well, due to his new citizenship. In addition, Chelsea signed Hakim Zayash from Ajax last week and could take the 26-year-old Brazilian's place.
Willian, who joined Chelsea 6.5 years ago, quickly became accustomed to falling in love with London, and despite the arrival of Zayesh, he does not intend to go anywhere else: "Here I want to stay. Here I live. Here is my church and my family. Here I want the flames of me to grow up."
