Rasnov (dpa) - Ski jumper Karl Geiger won the World Cup in Rasnov, Romania, and demonstrated his excellent skills on the smaller normal hills.

The 27 year old Allgäu jumped at 100 and 100 meters and won the third of three competitions this winter on the normal hill. Teammate Stephan Leyhe (99 and 97.5 meters) and Austrian Stefan Kraft (98 and 97.5 meters) completed the podium behind Geiger.

It was the first German double success since December 2017 when Richard Freitag won in Titisee-Neustadt ahead of Andreas Wellinger. After Geiger and Leyhe, Pius Paschke (10th), Markus Eisenbichler (11th) and Constantin Schmid (15th) had also reached the second round. Severin Freund narrowly missed World Cup points on his comeback as 32nd. Another single is scheduled for Saturday (12.45 p.m. / ARD).
