At a race in Kuwait, motocross rider Max Nagl made his racing comeback - and what one thing: the Weilheimer drove up and away from all other participants.

Kuwait - The cameraman for the livestream was unenviable. Whenever he wanted to zoom in on Max Nagl's pursuers, he had to pan far and wide until a driver came into focus. Hot edge-on-wheel duels? Wrong! Nagl considered the “Kuwait International” race this weekend. The KTM rider from Weilheim won the two races in the MX1 class with a clear lead.

Max Nagl: First place in all races

With the competition, the Motorsport Association of the Gulf State wanted to recommend itself as a host for a future Grand Prix. So far, Grand Prix events have been hosted in the Qatar Gulf region. In 2015 Nagl won the daily ranking in Qatar with 50 points. The course in Kuwait, which was developed by the course builder Greg Atkins, “is an MXGP-worthy route,” said Nagl.

Nagl couldn't have cared less about the lack of excitement in the races of the MX1 class. In any case, he had proven that he was fit again after suffering severe knee injuries last year. The 32-year-old's main focus this year is on the ADAC MX Masters series and the Czech championship. He may also contest one or the other World Cup run.

Nagl took first place in qualifying in Kuwait. The distances on Latvians Toms Macuks (KTM) and Estonian Magi Indrek (Kawasaki) were 1.518 and 2.274 seconds, respectively. Nagl won the start in each of the championship races and was the first to turn into the first corner. Then the Weilheimer quickly set himself apart from the pursuers. He won the first run with a 22.9-second lead over the Portuguese Paulo Alberto (Yamaha). In the second race, Nagl finished 13.1 seconds ahead of Makucs.
