Sakhir (dpa) - Mick Schumacher has promised entry into Formula 1 in a year. "Whether I will be in Formula 1 in 2021 is somewhere in the room," said the son of record world champion Michael Schumacher in a video interview with his Formula 2 team Prema.
The 22-year-old is starting his second season in the second-highest racing class this year, but Formula 1 is Mick Schumacher's declared goal. He also benefits from working with Ferrari. The racing team, for which his father had won five of his seven world championship titles, took Mick Schumacher into the so-called Driver Academy about a year ago.
"Of course we try to take so much experience with Ferrari, from the Driver Academy and the Scuderia Ferrari team," emphasized Mick Schumacher, who also wore a red polo shirt from the Maranello brand with the emblem of the young blacksmith and a red cap during the interview.
