Photos posted on social media in late February show Will Smith filming a tennis film. Indeed, in "King Richard", the American actor will play the role of Richard Williams, the father of two great players in the history of female tennis: Venus and Serena Williams. Young Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton, 13, will play the role of the two sisters. The film's release is scheduled for November in the United States.

In recent years, Richard Williams has faced several health problems, especially in 2016 where he suffered a heart attack that made him miss the marriage of his youngest daughter Serena. An absence to which the 38-year-old champion had reacted in a documentary series on HBO: "Many girls would react badly to such a decision, but I know what health problems he had to face".
