SC Riessersee has completed the Oberliga championship round with its tenth win in a row. In Lindau the team celebrated a smooth 8: 2 success - and without the leading wolves Florian Vollmer, Uli Maurer and Eetu Arkiomaa. The playoffs now go against the Hannover Scorpions.
Lindau - "Guad, then go to Hanover!" Managing Director Pana Christakakis reacted very succinctly on Sunday evening to the result of the direct competition. In Selb, a heavily decimated team from Deggendorf had their butter removed from the bread after a 2-0 lead and lost in extra time. SC Riessersee, who drove an 8-2 win in Lindau, overtook Lower Bavaria in the final table of the Oberliga championship round. This makes it clear: The Garmisch-Partenkirchen will meet the Hannover Scorpions, the fifth-placed from the north, in the playoff round of 16 next Friday.
Was it a little chess, tactical banter? Christakakis suspects it. Perhaps the Deggendorfer preferred Leipzig as counterparty. The journey to Saxony is of course much less long than that to Lower Saxony. The SCR did not want to take part in such games. At first glance one could have concluded otherwise. Because the line-up of the Riesserseer on Sunday seemed a little strange. Three absolute leading wolves were missing from the lineup: Florian Vollmer, Uli Maurer and Eetu Arkiomaa. Knees, back, pelvis - they tweak easily. "Everyone is stricken, we don't take any chances," emphasizes Christakakis. Not immediately before the playoffs, not in Lindau. Because the SCR has had bad experiences at Lake Constance. Maurer, Benjamin Kronawitter and Tobias Kircher injured themselves there. "We can't use that now."
So the SCR set off for Lindau with its junior squad. Simon Mayr was the oldest player in the squad when he was 24. Notable. The clear result was all the more astonishing. Who hasn't struggled with everything in the small hall of the Islanders. The SCR for sure. Only: There was no sign of that yesterday. What a good dose of self-confidence does not matter. The Riesserseers currently have enough of that.
The guests played their full strength, basically leaving the Lindauers no chance. It started with the 1-0 after only two minutes with a margin in the power play by Bastian Eckl. Jakob Heigl sunk single-handedly to 2-0. Towards the end of the first section and at the start of round two, the Lindau were best able to stand up to the SCR. But Daniel Allavena only had to accept the 1: 2. Because he parried the rest - even with a little luck if he hit the crossbar.
Presumably, even a compensation would have made little difference. The SCR combined smoothly and rewarded: Eckl put together a pack of three, Victor Östling showed that the SCR can currently sink Penaltys. All that was left was a drop of bitterness: after a foul, Anton Radu slammed his shoulder into the goal post. The game ended prematurely for him. "He could move the shoulder, but the doctors have to look at it," says Christakakis. One thing is clear: Radu also wants to go to Hanover.
