Nove Mesto (dpa) - At the end of the Biathlon World Cup in the Czech town of Nove Mesto, Franziska Preuß finished third in the mass start and thus secured her first individual podium place in a year.

The 25-year-old missed only once and also achieved her best result of the season thanks to a good final round. Preuss was 32.4 seconds behind the victorious Tiril Eckhoff. In her seventh win of the season, the Norwegian also with one mistake put Sweden's Hanna Öberg in second place (1 mistake / + 25.3 seconds).

Sprint winner Denise Herrmann had to make do with 12th place (+ 1: 24.2 minutes) after five mistakes. Vanessa Hinz, World Championship second in singles, finished 21st after three penalties (+ 2: 46.3 minutes).

With this, the German women ended the Ghost World Cup with three podium finishes after it had reached third place in the relay. At the first World Cup, excluding spectators, the ranks in the 2013 World Cup arena remained empty on all four competition days due to concerns about the spread of the corona virus.
