The Damascus team won first place in the general ranking of the teams in the Republic Championship in Free Wrestling, which was held by the game union in the Assad Sports City in Lattakia, with the participation of 74 players representing eleven governorates in addition to the Army.
Damascus won the championship cup after winning first place with 185 points, the second shield team came in 155 points, and the Army ranked third with 140 points.
The first place was achieved with a weight of 57 kg, Abdullah Wahid from Daraa, and a weight of 62 kg, Muhammad Mustafa, and a weight of 65 kg, Ibrahim Al-Tabba, and a weight of 70 kg, Ahmad Dirki, all of them from Damascus, and the weight of 74 kg, Anas Al-Khaldi from the Army, and the weight of 79 kg, Ahmad Al-Masalmeh from Daraa, and a weight of 86 kg, Noor Tohme from Damascus. With a weight of 92 kg, Ammar Abu Aleeqa from Daraa, and a weight of 97 kg, a two-person herak from Damascus, and a weight of 125 kg, Omar Strict, from Damascus.
In a statement to Sana, a member of the Executive Bureau, the head of the Central Power Games Bureau, Mohamed Al Hayek, explained that this tournament is the beginning of the annual activities calendar and held in Lattakia for the second year in a row, which is considered a success of the game.
Al Hayek revealed that the big participation had a positive impact in creating competition, excitement and strength during the struggles, and thus some promising materials imposed their talent, and there is a specialized committee that selected some of the distinguished talents produced by the championship and will be attached to the national training team camp currently held in Damascus and supervised by specialized coaches in order to develop the players technically Physically, and the formation of an elected team to participate with two full teams in free and Romanian wrestling, on the basis and criteria approved by the Federation in preparation for the upcoming foreign entitlements, the first of which is the Mediterranean Championship for Youth and Youth in Greece.
At the end of the tournament, cups and medals were distributed to the first three players in each tournament weight.
