Unsurprisingly, the Champions League 8th-final second leg between Bayern Munich and Chelsea, scheduled for March 18, would be held behind closed doors due to concerns over the new coronavirus. The Bavarian club confirmed the information in a statement:
"FC Bayern is thus implementing the decree of the Bavarian state government, issued to protect the population. The goal is to minimize the risk of infection with a coronavirus. (…) Only persons under contract for the operation of the match are authorized to attend. TV coverage is guaranteed by the rights holder, ”said the German club, before informing its supporters that it will reimburse them.
The German club, 3-0 winner on the way to London, complies with the rule laid down by the regional authorities of Bavaria, which on Tuesday prohibited all gatherings of more than 1000 people until April 19.
