Update from March 10, 11:46 a.m .:

No spectators at the Toto Cup semi-final

Regional football team FC Memmingen cannot host the Bavarian cup semi-final against third division TSV 1860 Munich on March 31 as planned - at least not with spectators. The background to this is the ban that has now been imposed in Bavaria until April 10 to hold major events with over 1,000 visitors. "The legal director of the city of Memmingen, Thomas Schuhmaier, also informed us that it is not possible to run the game with a spectator limit of less than 1,000 people," said FCM President Armin Buchmann. The city's reasoning goes on to say: "Since the aim of the measure is to prevent the infection chains of the COVID19 virus, a football game with spectator limitation would trigger mass gatherings among the football-savvy population. This must be avoided under all circumstances. It is clear to us that this decision has economic consequences, but it cannot be avoided ”.

FC Memmingen wants to reschedule the game

FC Memmingen has contacted the Bavarian Football Association as to whether the cup date can be rescheduled, especially since the original date in the framework calendar would have been around April 21 anyway. Purchased tickets remain valid for a possible replacement date. A return is currently not possible. A good 2,500 tickets have already been sold for the home area, plus a number of tickets for the guest block. The further pre-sale was suspended by the FCM on Monday as a precaution. Those responsible had expected an arena sold out with 5,000 spectators. As soon as the FCM itself has more precise information, it will be passed on immediately.

FC Memmingen is still waiting for a response from the city as to whether the regional league point games can be played on March 20 against SV Wacker Burghausen and on April 3 against FC Schweinfurt in the arena. If the same rules apply to spectators as in cup games, these matches could at best be played as "ghost games" without spectators.

Update from March 9, 8:49 pm: TSV 1860 Munich could be affected by the decision of the Free State: Events with more than 1000 guests should be prohibited in the Free State of Bavaria until Good Friday.

Particularly bitter: On Saturday, March 14th, the absolute top game of the 3rd league against MSV Duisburg is coming up.

The following games in the Grünwald stadium could also be affected:

1860 Munich - Würzburger Kickers - Sat, March 21, 2 p.m.

1860 Munich - Hansa Rostock - Saturday, April 4, 2 p.m.

The TSV 1860 Munich will also play the following games until Good Friday (April 10):

1.FC Kaiserslautern - TSV 1860 Munich - Tue, March 17th, 7 p.m.

KFC Uerdingen - TSV 1860 Munich - Saturday, March 28, 2 p.m.

Coronavirus: Memmingen stops ticket sales for cup game against lions

Memmingen / Munich - FC Memmingen has temporarily suspended further ticket sales for the Bavarian Cup semi-final on March 31 against TSV 1860 Munich. "Of course, we are closely following the current development regarding the Corona virus and the recommendations for events that are currently being made," said FCM President Armin Buchmann "Distance in the rows of spectators is".

FC Memmingen improves conditions

A good 2,500 cards for home use have already been sold. At 1860 Munich, the advance sale for a maximum of 1,100 tickets for the guest block is still ongoing. The arena has a capacity of 5,000 visitors. According to the current pre-sale status, this would leave about a third of the standing room free.

In consultation and with the support of the city of Memmingen, the sanitary conditions for the cup game in the arena will be significantly improved. Sufficient toilets and hand washing facilities will be available for the standing room area.

Purchased tickets remain valid - return is not possible

It remains to be seen whether the corona situation will worsen in the coming weeks and whether larger events in Bavaria will have to be canceled or relocated. As a result, the health authorities and the Bavarian Football Association are no longer responsible for this anyway. Purchased tickets are currently valid and cannot be returned.

If the situation relaxes and can be played with a full arena, ticket sales will continue. Sport1 will broadcast the game on television. A "ghost game" without fans is not an option for the FCM, because according to Buchmann, the financial losses would be fatal in view of the tickets that have already been sold and sponsorship packages have been completed.

Last Saturday the FCM played its point game against TSV Aubstadt with 574 spectators as planned and without any problems. The next regional league home game on March 20 against SV Wacker Burghausen will - as of today - take place quite normally.
