Official training starts at TSV Pentenried football players at 7.30 p.m. Obviously, this was not always the case with A-Class 2's seventh.

Pentenried - “In my first training session at 7.30pm there were only five players on the pitch. A few minutes later, everyone slowly arrived, ”recalls Franz Möhwald, who took over the coaching position from Daniele Rachella, who resigned for private reasons, during the winter break.

Franz Möhwald introduces discipline

For the 59-year-old Pentenrieder, this condition was unsustainable. For him it is clear: "It is only possible with discipline." This also includes proper preparation for the game. "Alcohol has lost nothing on the soccer field," explains Möhwald. He now sees his team on the right track. "Ten minutes before the start of training, there are now always 20 people on the pitch," says the new coach, who has identified a "huge enthusiasm" among his players. From time to time there are still players who mimicked on the court after an announcement by the coach, but "after ten, 15 push-ups" that was quickly done.

With Ferdinand Leitl from TSV Gilching-Argelsried, the Pentenrieder have registered an official returnee. In addition, however, there are a few other players in the preparation who were rarely seen on the training ground before. “About eight players came out of their holes. Word has apparently got around that training is fun, ”says Möhwald. He thinks little of pure condition units in preparation. "We train 95 percent with ball. The players don't even notice how much they run," explains the TSV coach with a laugh.

Performance only at 40 percent

While he already sees his team in terms of discipline at 80 percent of the ideal state, he only estimates the overall performance at a good 40 percent - so there is still a lot of room for improvement. Since the beginning of the preparation work has been done primarily on defense behavior, the fine tuning of the offensive should take place in the remaining weeks until the start of the game on March 22 at TSV Gernlinden. "There is still too little going forward," says Möhwald. So far, the Römerfeld have had a 2-2 draw against A-Classist TSV Tutzing and a 0-1 defeat against the second team of TSV Gilching-Argelsried (district class). On Sunday, the dress rehearsal will be held against the SV Waldperlach reserve, which, as the leaders of Munich's A-Class 5, will fight for promotion to the district class.

"At least district class"

Pentenried's dreams of leaping upwards are hardly realistic this season, given that they are already 12 points behind the top teams FC Puchheim and TV Stockdorf. Despite all the optimism, Möhwald is reluctant. He makes it clear: "If we stayed in our current place in the table, I would be satisfied." The gap to the relegation places is as big as that to the front places, so there is no acute risk of falling into the B-Class. In the long run, however, you don't want to make yourself comfortable in the A-class midfield. For Möhwald it is clear: "In the medium term, the club belongs at least to the district class."

Preparation plan

Test matches: TSV Pentenried - TSV Tutzing 2: 2, TSV Pentenried - TSV Gilching-Argelsried II 0: 1, TSV Pentenried - SV Waldperlach II (Sunday, March 15, 2 p.m.)
