Turin (dpa) - The Italian Daniele Rugani from Juventus has tested positive for the corona virus. This was announced by the Italian soccer champions and leaders. The 25-year-old currently shows no symptoms of the lung disease Covid-19.
Juventus "is currently implementing all legally required" quarantine requirements, said the record master. This also applies to people who have had contact with Rugani. For the Serie A club, ex-international Sami Khedira is under contract.
Italy is considered the epicenter of the pandemic in Europe. Due to the spread of the corona virus, the government has suspended all sporting events in the country until April 3. This also applies to the Serie A games. The last competitive game was played against Inter Milan last Sunday. Rugani sat on the bench at Turin 2-0 in the Derby d'Italia.
In Germany it became known that Timo Hübers from the second division Hannover 96 was the first football professional in Germany to test positive for the virus. The 23-year-old is currently in quarantine at home and has had no contact with his teammates at an event in Hildesheim since his infection, his club said.
