Victor Medeleanu, promotion coach of SC Unterpfaffenhofen, will only sit on the bench of the Upfer Buam until the end of the season. At the beginning of the week, the Romanian informed the board of his decision, but his top priority remains relegation.
Medeleanu-Aus at SCUG: "Ten finals" for the district league table footballers
Since Medeleanus took office at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, the club has stabilized in terms of sport. The sovereign district league promotion with a lead of 22 points in the premier season was followed by a sensational sixth place in the following season. However, things are currently not going well at the SCUG, which is only one point in front of the relegation site.
Medeleanu knows that the upcoming point game at the bottom table neighbor Raisting will be "a small final, a six-point game" for his relegation team. The team itself needed no additional motivation, because the last ten games of the district league season were "like ten finals". The trainer's focus is still on reaching the season goal of staying in the league, which is why, despite several offers in winter, he is not yet concerned with his future.
Different performances at Medeleanu and SCUG: "District League without funds is not possible"
“Our common ideas no longer worked. I had the goal of playing at the front, ”Medeleanu explains his difficult decision. Medeleanu had expected other solutions for the implementation of his ideas from his club, but the financial situation was not compatible with the goals.
The SCUG is not known for signing top-class or experienced players, the financial situation is manageable. In the seventh-class district league, the economic component already plays a crucial role. And so mostly players from lower classes switched to the South Germeringers, while the competition sometimes presented players with regional and Bayern league expertise. A difficult situation for the amateur club who wants to survive in the league with small means. "District league without funds is not possible," says Medeleanu, who was already visiting Ajax Amsterdam.
Medeleanu leaves Upfer Buam: "... this is more important than my new job"
He has a new challenge "not yet in sight". However, the UEFA license holder already received a number of offers in the winter, and national league teams are also interested. "But I didn't sign anything and refused discussions, my boys and I are concentrating and one hundred percent on staying in the class," said the 44-year-old. "This is more important than my new job, I didn't want to distract from the important."
The Romanian expresses great praise to his team, which has always shown its full commitment. "Respect to the boys, they train hard three times a week and in the training camp they gave everything and did it really well." The ex-professional already announced his departure to his team. "The boys have a good character, they reacted well." Team player Medeleanu will probably not announce how it will go on until after the season.
