Elegant as his silk football and breaking into tears on several occasions, Dani Parejo, captain of Valencia until this Tuesday and new Villarreal player, wanted to say goodbye to those who have been his fans for nine seasons. He would have liked to say goodbye at the Mestalla but had to settle for doing it from his home in the city. He said goodbye with glassy eyes at a telematic press conference organized by his representation agency. “I have two houses in Valencia. One is this and another is Mestalla. I leave in pain. I would have liked to say goodbye at the Mestalla, but it couldn't be and that's why I'm at home ”. Behind him, on a shelf, among other objects, there was a photo with his children in Mestalla and a mug of the team that he has defended since it was presented at Les Coves de Paterna in 2011 in an act in which his family participated.

His argument was loaded with sentiment towards the bat club. “My son Dani asks me why I go to another team if he has always been from Valencia. I have tried to continue but it could not be. I have always said that my intention would have been to retire at Valencia. I have not experienced anything better than playing for Valencia. I have not been to another club like it. It's a fucked up moment. I have been a captain, I have played here nine seasons. All my professional life has been linked to this club. I'm leaving the club of my life ”.

Parejo confirmed that President Anil Murthy communicated with his agent hours before playing in Leganés a momentous match to reach the Champions League that Valencia ended up losing. In that game, probably off-center, Coslada's missed a penalty. Before the end of the competition, they informed both me and my agent of the possibility of an exit due to circumstances that I do not know. I don't know if it would be for the good of the club, but I understand that it was not the best moment. They are neither ways nor moments to communicate that with what we were playing and how little there was left to finish the competition. It is something that ends up influencing you by the ways you do it ”, he complained.

Parejo, who did not want to lash out during his speech against the club's largest shareholder, Peter Lim, or against the president, Anil Murthy, said he did not know the reasons for his departure. "I understand that when you do not enter Europe and with the covid situation you have to do something but if you want to be a powerful club and fight for big goals you have to have great players. I don't think the issue or the reason is my file. They have not explained to me what reasons they have: if my behavior, my salary or that I say things to my face, I do not know. My agent tried to get me to continue but there was no agreement. If what they blame me is that I go forward, I go proud, "he said.

The Coslada midfielder added that he did not know if his good relationship with Marcelino had alienated him with the property. "I just do not know. It is a situation that I do not control and that I do not know. I can only say good things about Marcelino. No one can be singled out for that. I have a clear conscience, "continued the player, who admitted that in September after Marcelino's dismissal the players" asked to go to Singapore "to speak with Peter Lim. "We proposed going to Singapore not only the captains but the entire squad because we believed in the coach one hundred percent and in that game model."

Asked about his relationship with Peter Lim and if his estrangement from Anil Murthy has harmed him, Parejo commented that he has no dealings with the owner and was colder with the president: “I have no relationship with Lim. I only went to Singapore once and was only 24 hours. With Anil we live more day to day. It is a relationship without more. I have always been sincere, I have said things as I think them, I am face to face and, perhaps, that could have hurt me but I have a clear conscience and I leave with my head held high ”.

"I don't know what happens at Valencia. We find out as you find out. They fire Camarasa, who hurt me a lot, the physio ... I live Valencia with the same uncertainty that you do. My family has made us enjoy a lot. I will always wish him the best ”, he added.
