Buyout of OM: Boudjellal returns to the charge and dreams of Zidane on the bench

2020-08-25T09:28:17.099Z

After his rant in mid-August, the former boss of RC Toulon claims to have explained himself with Mohamed Ayachi Ajroudi, whom he now has "total confidence" to carry out the buyout negotiations.

Umpteenth rebound in the saga of the attempted buyout of Olympique de Marseille by Mohamed Ayachi Ajroudi and his associates. After having fired red balls on certain collaborators of the Tunisian businessman in charge of communication and threatened to withdraw from the project as long as they remained in place, Mourad Boudjellal returned to the negotiating front. More offensive and determined than ever. In an interview with  La Provence , the former president of RC Toulon claims to have addressed certain disagreements with Today. The two men now seem to be back on the same wavelength.

“I had several times Mohamed Ajroudi who also discovered that the last press release was not the one he had validated. So he renewed his total confidence in me and told me that there would no longer be any press release and that he would now deal directly with the file, ”he explains before assuring that the bank Wingate, which he described as a “Watergate” bank on August 14, was to be excluded from the project. "This one, we will not hear any more about it", slice Boudjellal.

He hopes to be able to finalize the buyout of OM before the end of the year

Describing the latest press releases and the ultimatum of the Ajroudi clan to OM owner Frank McCourt as "lunar" and even "laughable", the ex-leader wishes to turn the page. And make up for lost time by convincing the American to sell. "We must try to convince him that we are not bad guys, that we have good intentions, that we can be stronger together, that we can give happiness together and do great things for the city. . We must change the image he can have of us. I think we have to start from scratch, "continues Boudjellal who has set a deadline to finalize a possible transaction," by the end of the year, I hope before the end of December.

"Zinedine Zidane ? If tomorrow I am president of this club, I don't know if he would accept but I would sleep in front of his door. "

On the sporting side, the former Toulon boss recognizes during the interview that the Ajroudi clan has not advanced. Boudjellal however qualifies the current coach, André Villas-Boas as "very good", but slips again the name of Zinedine Zidane to one day occupy the Olympian bench, as Mohamed Ayachi had done in the columns of  Le Figaro  on July 9 latest. “For me, there is only one person who has a destiny here. And I think you never escape your fate. Zinedine Zidane ? If tomorrow I am president of this club, I do not know if he would accept but I would sleep in front of his door. (...) I could not not try. That doesn't mean I would get there, but I would move heaven and earth! When you're president of OM, you have to give your all. There is such a destiny, such a story to be told, "poses the right arm of Ajroudi, who has only one objective, to breathe new life into a club which has lived for too long on its glorious European past:" Today, OM must shine again in Europe! And then, it's enough to pinch yourself on a star. (…) This club must not spend the next twenty years hoping that another club does not win the European Cup to be the only one to have won it. "
