PSG-Lens officially postponed to September 10

2020-08-25T09:34:17.474Z

Following the request of Paris SG to postpone its match against Lens, the LFP decided on Tuesday morning to postpone the meeting to September 10.

Paris SG wanted it, Paris SG got it. The capital club has obtained the postponement to September 10 of its resumption of Ligue 1 match in Lens, initially scheduled for this Saturday, just six days after its lost Champions League final last Sunday (0-1 against Bayern Munich) . The reigning French champions were supposed to start the 2020-2021 French championship in Artois. But the six-day gap between the two meetings was not considered sufficient by the club of the capital. “At the request of Paris Saint-Germain and in agreement with the RC Lens club and the broadcaster Canal +, the LFP Bureau, meeting today, decided to postpone the meeting between RC Lens and Paris Saint-Germain, initially scheduled for Saturday August 29, 2020 at 9 p.m., to Thursday September 10, 2020 at 9 p.m. ”, the instance wrote in a press release.

After thirteen days in Lisbon to play in the Final 8 of the Champions League, the players of Paris Saint-Germain landed at Roissy on Monday afternoon. Neymar and his partners then joined the Parc des Princes by bus where their families and loved ones were waiting for them for a reunion tinged with emotion. But not their supporters, banned from assembling and demonstrating by the Paris prefecture a few hours earlier. Many CRS had been deployed around the enclosure of the Porte de Saint-Cloud to bring calm. The prefect Didier Lallement had motivated his decision by the "degradations and unacceptable violence which have nothing to do with football (and which) seriously marred the evening" during and after the final of the European Cup on Sunday evening.

Back to school busy

The Parisian leaders had sent, on Monday, a request to the Professional Football League (LFP) to postpone this meeting, which must be broadcast by Canal +. They were therefore heard at the end of a meeting of the Bureau of the League which was held this Tuesday morning by telephone. The reigning French champion will therefore benefit from additional rest, but his comeback promises to be busy, between France-Croatia on September 8 for the internationals, his resumption against Lens on the 10 (9 p.m.) and the shock against Marseille on the 13, for the return of the L1 to the Parc des princes. On September 16, Neymar's teammates will continue at the Parc against Metz.
