Is Paris privileged? Following the announcement of the postponement of the Ligue 1 match scheduled between Lens and PSG this Saturday, the rants are going well against a professional football league that some accuse of being in the service of Parisian club. A version refuted by Didier Quillot, the CEO of the LFP, who explains the underside of this controversial report.
How was the postponement of the Lens-PSG match decided?
DIDIER QUILLOT. We received a written request from PSG on Saturday evening, the day before the final. It was confirmed Monday morning. We then simply applied the texts by requesting a formal agreement from the opposing club and the broadcaster. We obtained a written agreement from Lens on Monday evening, then that from Canal + on Tuesday morning. We then held the League office where I presented the context, the request of PSG, the Lens and Canal + agreements as well as the proposal to postpone the meeting to the first available date, namely September 10. The decision was voted unanimously by the board. We simply applied our texts.
What do you think of the tweet of the mayor of Lens, Sylvain Robert, who says that it is not the “L1 Uber Eats but the L1 PSG”?
I tell him that RC Lens has been consulted and has given its consent. Lens could very well have refused and he did not. I really didn't feel that this was a problem for RC Lens.
After the match postponements due to Covid, here is now Paris with also two games late. Isn't the league at risk of scheduling issues?

No, the PSG matches will be played on September 10 (Lens) and September 16 (Metz). It is the PSG which is preparing to have a busy schedule. We will have our matches in prime time, the broadcasters are quite happy… In my opinion, it's more of a problem for Paris, which will find itself having to play a match every three days. But it is their decision.
