The Slovenian professional cyclist Primoz Roglic celebrated the day's victory on the first mountain finish of the 107th Tour de France.

The 30-year-old co-favorite of the Jumbo-Visma team won the 160.5-kilometer fourth stage from Sisteron to the Orcieres-Merlette ski station.

Roglic relegated his compatriot Tadej Pogacar and Guillaume Martin (France / Cofidis) to their places.

For Roglič it was the third stage win on his third tour participation.

The Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe successfully defended the lead in the overall standings;

he had to do without a helper for the last few kilometers and came in fifth.

This means that the superstar will wear the yellow jersey for the 17th time in his career on Wednesday.

The sprinters are in demand again on the fifth stage.

Over 183 kilometers from Gap to Privas there are only two mountains of the fourth category.

The German hopeful Emanuel Buchmann reached the goal nine seconds behind in 17th place and suffered the first setback.

The captain of the Bora-hansgrohe team is also 17th in the overall standings, 26 seconds behind Alaphilippe from the Deceuninck-Quick-Step team.
