The sports bowlers of VfB Hallbergmoos will be guest at the Bundesliga opener at Meister Zerbst, of all places, the ex-club of top newcomer Thomas Schneider.

Hallbergmoos

- It will be exciting, strenuous and new.

After six championship titles and seven promotions in the period from 2012 to 2020, Men I of the bowling department of VfB Hallbergmoos will play in the 1st Bundesliga in the 2020/21 season - and now it will show where the team stands.

With the three-step plan of the German Bowling Association Classic (DKBC), the first division was expanded from ten to twelve teams.

So there is a tight schedule that should end on March 27th after 22 match days - and right at the start of the season on Saturday, September 12th, the Hallbergmoosers will have to compete with the multiple champions and top favorites SKV Rot-Weiß Zerbst, the former club of VfB- Top man Thomas Schneider.

The first home game will take place on Saturday, September 19, at 2 p.m. in the Sportforum at Söldnermoos.

Last year's climber SF Friedrichshafen is a guest.

Two departures, three newcomers

Stephan Petrowitsch and Tobias Lacher left the VfB team at the end of the season, both of whom also competed for Bundesliga clubs in the 200 league and for the 2020/21 season barely had the opportunity to play in the 120 league.

As a new player, department head Sepp Niedermair was able to sign Patrick Krieger and Radovan Vlajkov for the Bundesliga in addition to Schneider.

The DKBC's information service even said: "The South / West second division champions VfB Hallbergmoos are reporting the biggest summer coups among the four promoted players with the addition of Thomas Schneider and Radovan Vlajkov from Neunkirchen."

While top bowlers and runner-up world champion Tom Schneider ranked eleventh in the DKBC's cutting list last season - his personal best is 714 wood - a former junior world champion, Patrick Krieger from Rot-Weiß Hirschau, was hired. Bundesliga was placed in 22nd position.

Apart from one game, he always scored more than 600 sticks in 2019/20 and once even managed 675 cones - his best performance is 694.

A world champion for VfB Hallbergmoos

Vlajkov, reigning world champion with the Serbian team, who also has 694 wood as the best value in the statistics, came to VfB from Neunkirchen, Austria.

It is interesting that in the final of the 2019 World Championships in the Czech Republic, of all places, he lost to Schneider with 665: 670 Holz.

Now the two world and runner-up world champions from 2019 will compete together for Hallbergmoos.

Thomas Schneider, who not only plays at VfB, but also acts as an active spokesman and youth coach, formulates the season's goal: "That we can stay up - but we have to stretch ourselves tremendously for that".

Department head Niedermair sees it exactly the same way: “It will be difficult from the start, because four teams will probably have to relegate.

We will certainly have to pay hardship in the first few games - so it's good that we meet Zerbst on the first day of the match.

Because then we have the toughest opponent behind us. ”The home game against Friedrichshafen and the second away game against SV Wernburg would show where you stand.

"It is important that all players are fit and spared from illnesses and injuries - then I am optimistic that we can keep up with this good squad."

Successful dress rehearsal

The dress rehearsal was a success: VfB won the return match against Hirschau, Patrick Krieger's hometown club, with 6: 2 points and 3489: 3416 wood, with newcomer Vlajkov proving his class with 644 cones.

Dan Mihaila (613) and Bogdan Tudorie (601) were also in good shape.
