Maccabi Tel Aviv in basketball has begun a telephone operation between ten thousand subscribers, to eliminate compensation claims for three Euroleague games and five league games that were not held following the outbreak of the corona virus.

Maccabi approached the appointment holders in two ways.

This is a waiver of any monetary claim for the games not held, as well as a waiver of the right to be part of the group of plaintiffs in the class action and any compensation that may be received within its framework.

As you may recall, about three months ago, a class action lawsuit was filed by CPA David Mizrahi and Adv. Ron Solan in the Magistrate's Court in Lod, in which they are suing the Maccabi Haifa, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hapoel B'Shlosha and Betar Jerusalem football teams, Maccabi Tel Aviv. In basketball and from the "Where" ticket office, a sum of about NIS 12 million for the games that were not held.

The lawsuit was accompanied by six fans from the various teams, who hold a nomination for the previous game season.

The lawsuit alleges, among other things: "Da Aka, in blatant bad faith, the respondents choose to use a successful method. And what are they saying? "The team members have the subscription fee for the relative part of the season, in which the team members will not be able to make any use of the appointment. Neither of the respondents has stated that they intend to do so."

Although each defendant has about six months to respond, Maccabi Tel Aviv decided to preempt a cure for Mecca and offered subscribers a route of a refund of five percent of the subscription value in the previous season, or a five percent discount on the purchase of a future appointment.

A source at the club noted that an absolute majority of the subscribers to whom they have approached so far, have agreed to waive the compensation.

At the same time, Maccabi is working to approve a partial amount for the team's games, and currently, according to a source in the club, they have managed to sell about 400 "expensive" appointments (about 250 places on the floor, where a subscription costs about 22,000 shekels), whose owners will enter the games if approved Outline of the Knesset between 500 and 1,000 spectators.

The completion of the staff of Maccabi Tel Aviv is currently stuck, also due to the uncertainty regarding the planned safety net from the Ministry of Finance, where the club is expected to receive about NIS 17 million.

Maccabi Tel Aviv's response

"Many Maccabi Tel Aviv subscribers have approached the club in recent months to inform in advance that they are not interested in compensation for some games that were not held due to the outbreak of the corona in the 2019/20 season.

They understand the size of the event and want to side with the team at this time.

Club representatives have started talks with last season's subscribers, as it is not yet known if it will be possible to bring in an audience next season, and as we know, at this stage we are unable to sell subscriptions to the general public.

Indeed, these days the talks are taking place with our fans, whom we miss very much and look forward to their return soon. "
