Laura Siegemund has reached the quarter-finals of the French Open for the first time in her career.
The 32-year-old won the quarterfinals 7-5, 6-2 against the Spaniard Paula Badosa.
The next opponent is the number seven seeded Czech Petra Kvitova, who is in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros for the first time in eight years.
The first set began with a break from both players before Badosa pulled away with two games.
Siegemund caught up the 3: 5 impressively and won four games in a row with the help of two breaks.
In the second set Siegemund started better, made a break and later took a 5-2 lead.
In particular, her stop balls made Bados problems.
After about an hour and a half, Siegemund won the second set and the game with the first match point.
Before the match, Siegemund said she was worried about back pain.
"There is something in the lower part of the back, that's all I want to say about it," said Siegemund.
During the second set, however, competitor Badosa had to be treated, apparently she also had back problems.
