The Seattle Storm basketball players are champions of the WNBA for the fourth time.

On Wednesday night, Seattle won the third game of the best-of-five series against the Las Vegas Aces 92:59 (43:34).

The team had already won the first two games.

Seattle's Breanna Stewart stood out with 26 points, she was named the most important female player of the series (MVP).

Stewart is considered the superstar of the best basketball league in the world, she had already won the championship with Seattle in 2018 and became MVP.

She missed last season because of a ruptured Achilles tendon, after which Seattle failed in the second playoff round.

Stewart picked up the injury at a EuroLeague game of their then Russian second club Dynamo Kursk.

Unlike their male colleagues, professional female basketball players in the USA are not compensated with millions; in 2019 Stewart's annual salary was just under $ 65,000.

The stars of the WNBA therefore play abroad in the off-season, where salaries are many times higher than WNBA wages.

The ring as a priority

"I know where I was during the WNBA finals last year. I was with my family in North Carolina and it was hard for me not to be sad because I wanted to be part of the league," said Stewart after the final triumph .

"I wanted to win a ring, that was the priority," she said.

In addition to Stewart, Sue Bird and Jewell Loyd convinced at Seattle.

It is already the fourth ring for 39-year-old Bird, having won her first title with Seattle 16 years ago.

With seven assists she was the best assists in the game.

Loyd came in at 19 points on nine rebounds.

The main regular season player, A'ja Wilson, was the best thrower in Las Vegas with 18 points.

The game took place without a spectator in Bradenton, Florida.

The WNBA held its final tournament there in the corona crisis.
