PSG: Draxler captain with Germany

Pushed towards the exit in Paris, the midfielder will wear the armband this Wednesday evening in the German selection against Turkey.

A month ago, Joachim Löw strongly suggested to Julian Draxler to leave PSG to find playing time within a year of the Euro.

The German coach continues to be a real support and supporter of the PSG midfielder, who ultimately did not leave the club this summer.

This Wednesday, against Turkey in a friendly match (8:45 p.m.), Löw even announced that the Parisian would be captain.

This meeting will mark Draxler's 53rd selection and it will be the ninth time he will wear the armband usually held by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Löw took the opportunity to slip a strong compliment to the player who is in good shape lately with PSG (2 goals since the start of the season in L 1, while he had not scored in this competition since October 2018): “He's got so much talent and class, he has to play regularly.

This will help.

This meeting of the German team is the first in a series of three, as for the Blues.

Another reason for Draxler's captaincy is a high turnover, since the midfielder should simply be the most capped player at kick-off.

“Emre Can, Matthias Ginter, Antonio Rüdiger and Julian Draxler, who have been with the team for a long time, will lead the new players and take on responsibilities,” Löw explained at a press conference.

Draxler notably wore the captain's armband in 2017, during the Confederations Cup won by Germany.
