The incident during the match between Paris SG and Basaksehir and possible racist insults by the fourth referee against the assistant coach of the visitors, Pierre Webo, provoked strong reactions in Turkey, where the Istanbul's rival clubs from Basaksehir, as well as several ministers in Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government, expressed their solidarity on Twitter.
"We support the honorable attitude of Basaksehir in the face of racism, which is a crime against humanity", tweeted the head of Turkish diplomacy Mevlüt Cavusoglu.
İnsanlık suçu olan ırkçılığa karşı Başakşehir Futbol Kulübü'nün onurlu duruşunu destekliyoruz.
