American Sophia Keenen won the best tennis player of the year award after winning her first title at the Australian Open, a Grand Slam tournament.
The WTA official website stated that Keenen won the award after beating world number one Ashley Barty in the semi-finals and over Garpen Muguruza in the final to win the title.
The 22-year-old is the eighth American to win the Professional Female Women's Player of the Year award.
