FC Barcelona celebrates national goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen for his performance and two penalties saved in the semi-finals of the Spanish Supercup.
"Ter Stegen brings us to Seville", the Catalans wrote the report on their homepage for the 3-2 game report against Real Sociedad San Sebastián on Wednesday evening.
Several strong saves during regular time, which ended 1-1, as well as goalless overtime brought Barcelona to penalties.
There Ter Stegen parried the first two shots on his goal from Jon Bautista and Mikel Oyarzabal, who had equalized in the 51st minute.
On his third attempt, the post helped him when Willian José shot.
Frenkie de Jong, who had headed the lead after 39 minutes, missed his penalty, as did Antoine Griezmann.
But even without the ailing star Lionel Messi, the team is now in the final.
There could be a Clásico against Real Madrid next Sunday if the champions prevail in the second semi-final game against Athletic Bilbao this Thursday.
A total of four teams have qualified for the Supercup in Spain since 2019 - in addition to the two cup finalists, the champions and the runner-up.
If they have also reached the cup final, the best-placed team in the league moves up.
